(Batavia, IL) - Today, the Bill Foster for Congress Committee announced that it had raised $384,173.13 from 776 supporters during the second fundraising quarter of 2009. The second quarter ran from April 1 to June 30.

Congressman Foster's unique experience as a businessman and a scientist, along with his independent voting record, his accessibility and his willingness to listen to those he represents has attracted supporters from across the political spectrum and from across the 14th District. 67 percent of Foster's campaign contributions are from individuals, and of these individual contributions, 70 percent of those are from Illinoisans.

Chris Carr, Finance Director for the Foster for Congress campaign, said, “The Congressman’s campaign was backed by a diverse group of individuals and businesses. We were delighted that we attracted the support of groups like the Firefighters and businesses like Boeing and General Electric as well as the hundreds of Illinois residents who back the job that Congressman Foster is doing on behalf of the families of the 14th District.”

For the 2010 campaign, the Foster for Congress Committee has now raised $765,325.92 and has $592,701.85 cash-on-hand.

“We raised the majority of our funds for the second quarter after Ethan Hastert announced his candidacy and entered the Republican primary," said Carr. "It is clear that our supporters are excited to keep a businessman and scientist who earned his seat in Congress instead of someone who believes his last name qualifies him to serve."
