Round 1 Goes to Foster: He Out-Raises Both Hastert and Hultgren Combined
Congressman’s Team Raises $317K for Third Quarter, More Than $1 Million for Campaign
(Batavia, IL) - Today, the Bill Foster for Congress Campaign demonstrated its political strength by raising more than the combined totals of its leading Republican opponents, Ethan Hastert and State Sen. Randy Hultgren. Together, Hastert and Hultgren raised approximately $300K during the third fundraising quarter of 2009 (July 1-September 30) while at the same time, the Foster team received $317,910.67 in contributions.
Nick Daggers, the Foster for Congress Finance Director said, “We were surprised and delighted that in one of the most difficult quarters for political fundraising nationwide that we were able to out-raise the legendary Hastert money-machine by nearly $100,000.”
Added Daggers, “That margin means we not only out-raised the former Speaker’s son but also the campaign of State Senator Randy Hultgren.”
With this third quarter total, the Foster Campaign also announced that it crossed the critical million-dollar mark. The campaign reported that it had raised $1,083,236.59 for the 2010 race.
In addition, the Foster campaign now has $801,643.29 cash-on-hand while Hastert has $220,465.37, a difference of more than $580,000.
Said Daggers, “Because of his unique background as a businessman and scientist, who values facts and data over party politics, Congressman Foster has attracted the support of Republicans, Democrats and Independents.”
