Foster Announces Second Round of Endorsements

Today, the Bill Foster for Congress Campaign announced its next round of personal endorsements for his candidacy for the Illinois 11th Congressional District that includes Aurora, Joliet, Naperville, Lisle, and Bolingbrook. Many of the endorsements were given at the 11th Congressional District Democratic Unity Rally held this past Saturday in Lisle. The list includes:

Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky

Former Congresswoman and State Central Committeewoman for the 11th Congressional District Debbie Halvorson

John Atkinson, former Congressional candidate

Scott Harper, former Congressional candidate

Julia Beckman, State Central Committeewoman for the 13th Congressional District

Mark Guethle, Chair of the Kane County Democrats and State Central Committeeman for the 14th Congressional District

Bob Peickert, Chair of the DuPage County Democrats

Foster's personal endorsements now include Democratic Central Committeemen and Committeewomen from each of the current Congressional Districts (the 11th, 13th, and 14th) that make up the bulk of the new 11th Congressional District; and the County Chairmen from both DuPage and Kane Counties, two of the counties in the new 11th Congressional District.

In his endorsement speech, Scott Harper said of Foster,

“I think that Bill Foster is the absolute best candidate to take this fight forward in this new turf. He stands for those values that we share. He runs as a businessman and as a scientist. When he talks about the economy or when he talks about creating jobs, you know that it’s not just talking points. He’s been there, he’s created jobs, and he and his brother kept those jobs in the U.S.”

In his endorsement speech, John Atkinson said:

“It is my honor and my privilege to support Bill. We will have a Congressman that will make us proud in Bill Foster. Bill began his career in Congress by casting the tie-breaking vote to bring in sweeping ethics reform in the House and ended the 111th Congress with a courageous vote to end ‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell’ to protect those in our military who are fighting for our country, yet could not continue to serve because of who they love.”

Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky said:

“I am absolutely thrilled to be here to endorse my dear friend, a great Congressman, and I can’t wait to have him back at our side, Bill Foster. Bill Foster is the best. When I looked at the website and saw ‘I’m in!’ I said, ‘So am I!’ Bill has been there. He has taken hard votes, but more than that, he has helped us in contributing to the debate. He is smart in so many ways. We need a scientist in Congress. Bill has become a go-to person on the economy, coming up with charts that explain what we need to know, ways to shape the debate on the economy. Bill has been there at every turn.”

“I am humbled by the support from my former colleagues and new friends, and I thank them for it,” said Foster. “We will need their help going forward in the campaign. It is crucial that we take back the House. None of these new Republicans would be in office today had they told the truth that their first priorities in Washington would be to dismantle Medicare and push their extreme right-wing social agenda instead of the important and sensible policies needed to keep improving our economy and to create jobs.”
