CHICAGO TRIBUNE ENDORSEMENT: Final choices for the U.S. House

Yes, it’s useful that Democratic Rep. Bill Foster of Naperville has a doctorate in physics. He supports Illinois-based Fermi Lab and Argonne National Laboratory, two important national research centers. But Foster has interests beyond particle accelerators, including the treatment of costly diseases such as Alzheimer’s and diabetes, climate change, the opioid crisis and the impact of automation on jobs. The Republican in this race is Rick Laib of Joliet who has run for several offices, primarily on an anti-abortion platform. Foster is a better fit for this district. He is endorsed.
